Restriction on publishing
1. Are there any restrictions in publishing unless it promotes resentment on issues violating the dignity of someone?
In special editions there is an evaluation, but not in the normal case. Usually we don’t investigate if there are any violations of a person’s dignity/entity or not. However, when the author publishes his work in the frame of our special editions, we investigate all aspects of a potential violation.
Duration
2. What about the time needed to publish the work?
To be on the safer side by contract, it takes us 8 weeks to print and publish your work. Usually it takes approximately 4 weeks.
Copyrights
3. Will I still own the copyrights of my thesis even after having published it in your company?
We are the owner of the copyrights which includes the distribution, selling, factoring and printing rights within the timeframe when you are publishing your work with us (usually 5 years). During this time, the rights on your theses are your own property which means that you can publish them freely in other newspapers, proceedings, magazines and books. Only the copyright of the work published during the time, having a contract with us, is our right.
New Editions
4. When my thesis has been published with your company and when I decide to publish it again, am I allowed to publish it in another publishing company, or are there any restrictions?
Yes, you can publish your thesis with other publishers, but in a different form. You can make a new edit/edition with the new company as well. However, please consider that the book/work published with us, bounds you to our company usually for 5 years. Therefore, you are not allowed to publish the same book with another publishing company during the time when you are under contract with us.
Selling the book
5. Who is exactly responsible for selling the book? The company or the author?
The company itself has the sole right for selling the published book which means it is in the company’s responsibility to sell the book.
Estimated gain
6. Would the author receive any percentage rates from the sales of a book when the publisher has the above mentioned responsibility/rights for selling it?
This can be negotiated individually in every case! All of this depends on various circumstances, e.g. the estimated sales / estimated demand for the work, the price fixing, the reputation of the author.
Design of covers
7. I would like to mention that none of us have ever designed a book cover. Will the company be able to design it for us?
Yes, the design of a book cover can be done by our company. For the design, we only need to know about the topic written in the thesis and what are the major statements in the book and what should be emphasized on the book cover. Then we can offer you an adequate proposals for the cover of the book.
